It replaced parabens. Is it any better? Phenoxyethanol is a preservative that took over as brands removed parabens. Regulators allow it at up to one percent. But it can irritate sensitive skin and eyes. Products without water, like balms and oils, generally don't need one at all. Our Beauty Oil has no water, so it needs no synthetic preservatives.
