Made without
Do not let the tube fool you. Our Lip Love balm carries the same oil blend as our Beauty Oil, folded into shea butter, cocoa butter and beeswax.
Every ingredient is natural and chosen to care for your lips in a way a standard petroleum stick cannot. Choose clear, or red for a soft wash of color.
Ingredients
How to use
Good to know
Lip Love: our facial oil blend in a tube
Most lip balms are built on petroleum and wax with a little flavor added. Ours carries the same oil blend we use in our facial Beauty Oil, folded into shea butter, cocoa butter and beeswax. The result is a smooth, cushioning balm that feels nourishing rather than slick. It comes in clear, or red for a soft wash of color.
What is inside
Beeswax
Beeswax gives the balm structure and forms a light, breathable layer that helps hold moisture in against wind, cold and sun.
Shea butter and cocoa butter
Shea butter softens and conditions. Cocoa butter adds a firm, creamy richness and a faint natural chocolate note.
The facial oil blend
Jojoba, sweet almond, avocado, castor, rosehip seed and prickly pear seed oils bring slip, gloss and a soft, comfortable feel. Castor in particular gives the balm a gentle shine.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps keep the oils fresh.
What we leave out
- Petroleum: no petrolatum or mineral oil.
- Synthetic dyes: no coal tar or synthetic dyes. Color on the lips gets swallowed a little at a time, so we keep it simple.
- Synthetic fragrance and flavor: no parfum.
- Preservatives: no parabens and no BHA or BHT.
Since lip products are eaten in tiny amounts every day, ingredient quality matters more here than almost anywhere else. Our guide to heavy metals in cosmetics explains why many people pay close attention to what goes on their lips.
Who it is for
Anyone with dry or chapped feeling lips: people who work outdoors, winter skiers, desert hikers, and anyone who wants a petroleum free everyday balm. The red option suits people who like a hint of color without a full lipstick. The balm contains sweet almond oil, so skip it if you have a tree nut allergy.
How to get the most from it
Apply whenever lips feel dry, and add a generous layer before bed for overnight softness. In cold or windy weather, apply before you head outside, not after your lips already feel rough. Try not to lick your lips, since saliva evaporates and leaves them drier. Keep the tube out of a hot car, where beeswax balms soften.
Questions about Lip Balm
Is beeswax lip balm better than petroleum lip balm?
Both help hold in moisture. Petroleum jelly is a highly refined, effective occlusive. Beeswax balms appeal to people who prefer natural ingredients, and when combined with butters and plant oils they add a nourishing, cushioned feel that plain petrolatum does not provide.
Why do my lips feel drier after using some lip balms?
Some balms contain flavors, fragrance or cooling ingredients like menthol that can irritate lips for some people, which leads to more reapplying. Licking your lips also dries them out. A simple balm without synthetic fragrance or flavor may feel more comfortable over time.
Is it safe to use lip balm every day?
For most people, yes. Because a small amount of lip product is swallowed with daily use, many people prefer balms with simple, recognizable ingredients and no synthetic dyes. If you notice any irritation, stop using the product and talk with a dermatologist.
How do I keep my lips soft in winter?
Apply a rich balm before going outside and before bed, drink plenty of water, run a humidifier indoors, and avoid licking your lips. A scarf over your mouth helps in strong wind. If lips stay cracked or painful despite care, check with a doctor.
