Made without

The Man Bar starts with the same nourishing cold process base as our Body Bar, then gets an earthy, fresh blend of tea tree, cedarwood and a hint of bergamot mint essential oils.

It is a clean, grounded scent without the heavy synthetic fragrance found in many men's body washes. Use it after work, after the gym, or before a night out.

Ingredients
Saponified olive oil, Saponified coconut oil, Saponified shea butter, Saponified castor oil, Saponified avocado oil, Tea tree essential oil, Cedarwood essential oil, Bergamot mint essential oil.
How to use
Lather on wet skin, rinse well, and store on a draining dish. Gentle enough for face and body.
Good to know
Handmade in small batches, so color and scent can vary slightly from batch to batch. Patch test any new product, and stop use if irritation occurs. For external use only.

A clean, grounded scent without the cologne cloud

Walk down the men's aisle and most body washes smell loud, and most of that smell comes from synthetic fragrance. The Man Bar takes a quieter route. It starts with the same cold process soap base as our everyday bar, then gets a blend of tea tree, cedarwood and bergamot mint essential oils. The scent is woodsy and fresh, and it does not linger for hours after you towel off. Our guide to natural men's grooming covers the rest of a simple routine.

What is inside

The soap base

Saponified olive, coconut, shea, castor and avocado oils make a firm bar with a creamy lather. Coconut does the heavy cleansing, while olive, shea and avocado keep skin from feeling stripped. Castor helps the lather hold up on a beard or a dirty pair of hands.

Tea tree essential oil

Tea tree has a crisp, medicinal edge that many people associate with feeling clean. Here it is used for scent and freshness.

Cedarwood essential oil

Cedarwood brings a dry, woody warmth that grounds the brighter notes.

Bergamot mint essential oil

A hint of bergamot mint lifts the blend with a cool, green finish.

Essential oils are concentrated plant materials, so it helps to know how they behave on skin. Our guide to essential oil safety and dilution explains why a little goes a long way.

What we leave out

Who it is for

Anyone who likes an earthy, outdoorsy scent, whatever their gender. It is a good fit for people who work with their hands, spend time at the gym, or simply want a shower routine without a long label. It is mild enough to use on the face and body.

How to get the most from it

Lather on wet skin or a washcloth and rinse well. If you have a beard, work the lather in with your fingertips, then rinse thoroughly. Store the bar on a draining dish between uses so it stays hard and lasts. Tea tree can be sensitizing for some people, so if you notice redness or itching, stop using it.

Questions about Man Bar

Is bar soap better than body wash for men?

Neither is automatically better, but a true cold process bar usually has a shorter ingredient list than body wash. Liquid washes need more water, preservatives and thickeners, and many rely on synthetic fragrance. A well made bar also skips the plastic bottle and tends to last a long time.

Can I use a tea tree soap bar on my face?

Many people use a gentle tea tree bar on both face and body. Rinse well and keep it away from your eyes. Tea tree oil can irritate some skin types, so try it on a small area first and stop if you notice redness or itching.

What does cedarwood and tea tree soap smell like?

Think of a walk through a pine and cedar forest after rain. Tea tree adds a clean, crisp note, cedarwood gives a dry, woody warmth, and bergamot mint brings a cool green lift. The scent is noticeable in the shower and stays soft on skin afterward.

Is natural soap good for washing a beard?

A mild cold process soap can work well for many beards, especially one without harsh sulfates that can leave facial hair dry and brittle looking. Work the lather in with your fingertips, rinse thoroughly, and follow with a beard oil or balm if your beard feels coarse.
