A calm, clean step for nails and cuticles

Hands go through a lot. Dish water, garden soil, hand sanitizer and cold weather all leave nails looking dry and cuticles ragged. Our Nail Oil is a simple serum made from a blend of conditioning plant oils, vitamin E and essential oils. Massaged into nails and the skin around them, it softens dry cuticles and helps nails look smooth, strong and healthy.

What makes it different

Much of the nail aisle is built around strong solvents, plasticizers and resins. Nail oil goes the other way. It does not coat the nail in a hard film; it simply conditions. That makes it an easy daily habit, and a nice counterbalance if you wear polish.

Plant oil blend

The plant oils soften dry, rough cuticles and add a healthy looking sheen to the nail surface. Oils are a natural fit for this job because they spread well into the tiny ridges and edges around each nail.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps keep the oils fresh and adds a conditioning touch.

Essential oils

A small amount of essential oils gives the serum a pleasant natural scent. Our guide to essential oil safety explains why we keep them well diluted.

What we leave out

Who it is for

Anyone whose nails look dry or peel, or whose cuticles feel rough: gardeners, cooks, health care workers who wash constantly, guitar players, and people taking a break from gel or acrylic manicures. It is also a gentle choice for people building a non toxic routine who want to skip harsh nail products. If a nail changes color, shape or texture suddenly, check with a doctor, since nails can reflect overall health.

How to get the most from it

Consistency matters more than quantity. Apply a drop to each nail once or twice a day, ideally at night, and massage it into the nail plate and cuticle for a few seconds. The massage itself helps the oil work into dry edges. Gently push back softened cuticles with a towel rather than cutting them. If you wear polish, apply the oil around the edges daily and on bare nails between manicures. Wear gloves for dishes and cleaning to protect your work.

Questions about Nail Oil

Does cuticle oil really work?

Cuticle oil is one of the simplest ways to help dry, ragged cuticles look and feel softer. Results come from daily use rather than a single application. Massage a drop into each nail once or twice a day, and you will usually notice smoother looking cuticles within a few weeks.

Should I use cuticle oil before or after nail polish?

Apply oil to bare nails before bed or after your polish is fully dry. Oil on the nail right before painting can keep polish from sticking, so clean the nail with soap and water first if you are about to apply a fresh coat.

How often should I put oil on my nails?

Once or twice a day is ideal, especially at night when hands rest longest. If your hands are washed often, a quick extra application after washing helps. Regular, small amounts work better than an occasional heavy coat.

Why are my nails peeling and brittle?

Frequent hand washing, cleaning products, cold dry air and nail polish remover are common reasons nails look dry and peel. Conditioning oil and gloves for chores often help. If changes are sudden or come with other symptoms, talk with a doctor or dermatologist.
